For the last month, Congress has considered an appropriations minibus, H.R. 2112, to incorporate Fiscal Year 2012 spending bills for the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and related programs. On November 14, a House-Senate conference committee approved a compromise minibus measure in the form of a conference report.

The New York State Division of Housing & Community Renewal has released its Executive Budget for 2012-2013. The Executive Budget recommends $291.7 million for the DHCR, a $22.35 million decrease from the 2011-12 Budget.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released a plan entitled “Blueprint for Stronger Service” which outlined the agency’s strategy to streamline operations and cut costs. In a fact sheet that outlined the next steps for the Office of Rural Development (RD), USDA revealed it intends to close 43 Rural Development (RD) local field offices in 17 different states.
