In late March, HUD’s Office of Recapitalization hosted a listening session to receive feedback on how they can facilitate more efficient closings of RAD transactions. The session has resulted in changes regarding the HAP effective date and information regarding initial year funding.
Preparing for an unprecedented number of RAD transactions this year, HUD is already seeing requests for extensions to Financing Plan submission deadlines. HUD will host a listening session to discuss incentives or remedies short of revoking CHAPs to keep PHAs on schedule and to mitigate the surge of volume at year-end.
On Tuesday, January 5, HUD hosted a listening session focused on fair housing standards related to HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration program. Before attending the session, NH&RA Executive Director worked with our RAD User Group to compile feedback for HUD officials. During the session, developers, public housing authorities, and fair housing advocates provided comments to senior and program leadership from HUD offices involved in public housing, multifamily housing and fair housing.
