The Montana legislature took comprehensive action this year on a suite of zoning bills that together will help facilitate the production of rental housing and prevent local governments in the state from adopting policies that create barriers to development.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte (R) approved the 2024 QAP.

Comments on Montana Housing’s draft 2024 QAP should be sent to DOCHDMF@mt.gov by 5 p.m. MT on October 21.

Montana Housing is hosting a virtual Housing Coordinating Team meeting at 10 a.m. MT on June 9.

Montana Housing will hold four 2024 QAP Working Group meetings via Zoom on June 7 at 11 a.m. MT, June 28 at 10 a.m. MT, July 12 at 10 a.m. MT and July 27 at 9 a.m. MT (if necessary).

Montana Department of Housing Multifamily Program Manager Nicole McKeith will be scheduling working group meetings, in June, to begin reviewing new or revised content for the 2024 QAP.

Montana Housing will hold a virtual Housing Coordinating Team (HCT) on 10 a.m. MT on April 14 to discuss all things affordable homes in Montana.  

Montana Housing will host a workshop to do a walkthrough of the new Uniform Application, as well as an overview of the process and submittal requirements for Letter of Intent and Full Application, while touching on the corresponding sections of the new 2023 QAP.

Montana Housing updated its Multifamily Compliance Manual.

The Montana Department of Commerce will hold a public hearing via Zoom to consider a proposed amendment to the 2023 QAP on February 3 at 10 a.m. MT.

Governor Greg Gianforte (R) announced the state will invest up to $15 million to fund affordable housing projects across Montana.

Montana Housing updated its Uniform Application, as well as LIHTC and Multifamily Loan forms.
