Baltimore Housing, a collaboration between the Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC), has announced the Summer 2012 NOFA funding round for housing and community development projects.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has announced the opening of the application period for its Rental Housing Works (RHW) program. RHW is a gap financing program for projects funded using DHCD’s Multifamily Bond Program (MBP); RHW applications must be submitted in conjunction with a MBP application.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (MDHCD) is accepting comments on proposed guidelines for the new Rental Housing Works (RHW) program. RHW is funded at $17.5 million for FY 2013.

Representative Chris Gibson (R-NY) recently introduced the Irene and Lee Tax Relief Strom Recovery Act, H.R. 3769, which would increase the amount of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) to be allocated in states damaged by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee in 2011.

Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), recently announced a new $15 million rental housing initiative, “Rental Housing Works”, that will provide funding for up to 20 affordable housing projects in the State of Maryland.

Maryland’s Public Service Commission (PSC) has ordered the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to become the sole provider of weatherization and energy retrofitting programs for low income households throughout the state.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published Revenue Service 2011-57 which dictates the amounts of unused housing credit carryover allowances allocated to qualified states. Nearly $3.66 million of unused credits were divided among the states in the National Pool.

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Secretary Raymond A. Skinner announced today the department’s Be SMART (Save Money and Resources Today) initiative, which is primarily a loan program to finance energy efficiency improvements to homes, businesses and multifamily buildings in more than a dozen targeted communities around the state. The $20 million in funding comes from the BetterBuildings program of the U.S. Department of Energy.
