HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research has updated its comprehensive profile of subsidized housing in the United States. The Picture of Subsidized Households 2008 data set describes the nearly 5 million households living in HUD-subsidized housing in the United States in 2008.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau recently announced that they will be redesigning the American Housing Survey. Planned changes will be incorporated in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

NCAHMA recently completed a survey of its membership to collect information on members’ market study and appraisal activities and services. Specifically, the survey identified the number of market analysts employed by respondents, and the states in which analysts actively prepare market studies for affordable housing projects.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Policy Development and Research has released a report entitled, “Report to Congress on the Root Causes of the Foreclosure Crisis.”

HUD has published a new working paper entitled “U.S. Rental Housing Characteristics: Supply, Vacancy, and Affordability.” The paper reports these findings as part of its overview of the current rental housing market dynamics, in relation to supply, local conditions, the national assisted rental housing stock, and both need and demand for affordable rental housing.
