HUD’s Economic and Market Analysis Division has published Comprehensive Housing Market Analysis reports for the Colorado Springs, CO and Tacoma, WA housing market areas.

NH&RA was saddened to learn of the passing of former FHA Commissioner Lawrence B. Simons on December 29, 2011.

On December 31, the Rental Policy Working Group (RPWG) released its administrative proposals for the realignment of federal affordable rental housing programs. The report, called “Federal Rental Alignment Administrative Proposals” proposes ways to reduce the cost and burden of various affordable housing programs operated by the Departments of Agriculture, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Treasury and others.

The most recent December 2011 issue of ResearchWorks, the official newsletter of HUD’s Office of Policy Development & Research, examined the geographic distribution of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects in 10 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs).

In accordance with Section 206A of the National Housing Act, HUD has adjusted the basic statutory mortgage limits for Multifamily Housing Programs for 2012, effective January 1, 2012.

HUD has issued a proposed rule change to the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) program which provides formula grants to states and local governments to fund activities that support the development, acquisition, and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing for rent or homeownership or to fund direct rental assistance to low-income people.

HUD’s Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) has released the results of the most recent physical property inspections of properties that are owned, insured or subsidized by HUD, including public housing and multifamily assisted housing.

HUD’s Department of Policy Research & Development has published a Comprehensive Housing Market Analysis for Kansas City, Missouri-Kansas. The report provides a summary of the changes in the economic, demographic, and housing inventory characteristics of each specific housing market area, as well as offer projections for a three-year forecast period.

Recently the Senate Banking Committee voted to approve President Obama’s nomination of Carol Galante as the next Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Commissioner and Maurice A. Jones as the next Deputy Secretary of HUD.

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Agency (WHEDA) received a notification from HUD regarding residual receipt accounts on WHEDA financed properties.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced this week that HUD is joining forces with GreatSchools, a national non-profit educational resource for parents, to give parents living in public housing or who receive HUD Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance greater access to local school information that will help them make more informed decisions about where to send their children to school.
