Delay in Virginia’s Reach Lending Policy Effective Date

On August 26, 2019, the Virginia Housing Development Agency (VHDA) announced new policies regarding use of REACH Virginia funds, which was to become effective immediately for tax-exempt bond loans, as well as any taxable loan associated with nine percent LIHTC deals applied for in the 2020 allocation round. In response to public comments VHDA will delay implementation of any change in such policy to a date to be determined, but not earlier than June 30, 2020.

Arizona Posts 2020 LIHTC Documents, Application Workshop 1/21

ADOH will hold the 2020 LIHTC Application Workshop on January 21, 2020 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm MT at the Desert Willow Conference Center. Developers (or their co-developer or consultant) who plan to submit an application in the 2020 round must attend this annual training. The deadline to register is January 13, 2020.

2020 Deviation Requests Due January 13, 2020 by 5:00 pm CST; 2020 Application Log entries Due February 10, 2020 by 5:00 pm CST; 2020 Competitive Applications Due February 12, 2020 by 5:00 pm CST; and 2020 Award Announcements in June 2020.

TCAC to Consider the Creation of a Four Percent/State LIHTC Waitlist at January 15 Meeting

The California Tax Credit Allocation Committee will hold a meeting on January 15 at 11:15 am PT. On the agenda is consideration of a resolution to establish a Waiting List of pending applications for federal four percent and State LIHTCs.

California Releases Threshold Basis Limits, Updates Attachment 40 Application

The California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (TCAC) released the 2020 Threshold Basis Limits. The basis limits have been incorporated into the TCAC Application (Attachment 40). TCAC staff will utilize the 2020 basis limits for all application submissions going forward. If you would like the updated limits inserted into an application for the January 17, 2020 deadline, please email your TCAC application to Connie Harina.

California Releases $297 Million NOFA

The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) announced the release of the January 2020 Multifamily Housing Program (MHP) Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for approximately $297 million. This funding will assist with new construction of affordable homes and acquisition, rehabilitation and preservation of permanent and transitional rental housing for lower-income households.

CHFA Board of Directors Approves 2020 QAP

The 2020 QAP has been approved by the Colorado Housing Finance Agency Board of Directors and is pending approval by Governor Polis.

The board chair of the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) announced that Isidoro “Izzy” Hernandez has been named as the organization’s executive director in a unanimous board vote. He replaces Jay Czar, who was MFA’s executive director for 13 years.
