The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) has launched a new Bond Recycling Program, which will provide an additional source of financing to address the state’s affordable housing crisis.

The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) updated several documents for its upcoming nine percent LIHTC round. Applications for the nine percent round are due no later than 4 p.m. ET on November 12, 2020. CHFA will hold a Tax Credit Compliance Monitoring Workshop from 9 – 10:30 a.m. ET on September 30.

Louisiana Housing Corporation’s (LHC) Board of Directors approved $167 million to develop 640 affordable rental units across five Louisiana parishes. The Board of Directors also approved a resolution to extend the State’s 2021 QAP timelines in an effort to address the impact of Hurricane Laura across the State of Louisiana.

The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) released its winter 2021 rental round notice of funding availability (NOFA). Pre-applications for the winter 2021 rental round are due on October 30, 2020, with full applications due on January 21, 2021.

The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is offering online training sessions on DHCD subsidy program occupancy requirements.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) issued Multifamily Notice 20-15 concerning the use of the “Taxable/Tax-Exempt Financing” technique. DHCD is now expanding the financing technique to include projects that rely on subordinate financing from DHCD through Rental Housing Works (RHW) and other subordinate financing programs of DHCD. This modification is retroactively effective for applications submitted for financing, and DHCD will work with individual projects in underwriting to set the best course forward for each deal.

Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) will hold a virtual QAP information hearing from 9 – 11 a.m. ET on September 25.

The Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NFIA) announced Shannon Harner as its new executive director. Harner is an experienced attorney with a long history in the housing industry.

Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) opened the 2020 Veteran’s Affordable Rental Housing Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFA) #2020-9. OHCS will host a NOFA info session on September 16 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. PT.

RIHousing is utilizing $500,000 in funding from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) to establish the COVID-19 Emergency Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program.

Through the Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program (RMRP), eligible landlords can apply on behalf of their tenants to receive financial assistance for past-due rental payments dating back to April 1, 2020. Funding for RMRP is through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
