On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, NYSAFAH will host its Annual Awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing at The Yale Club in New York City. Nominations are now open for the following categories:
Advocate of the Year: Nominees should be individuals who have had a particularly strong positive impact on the field of affordable housing development, either locally or state-wide. Preference will be given to the unsung heroes of affordable housing, including those in government.
Nonprofit of the Year: Nominees should be not-for-profit organizations that have demonstrated excellence in either the development of affordable housing or the delivery of services to residents.
Innovator of the Year: Nominees should be organizations or individuals that have demonstrated innovative ideas that have positively impacted the affordable housing industry (i.e. drafted or sponsored legislation, created a new business model, etc.)
Nominations for the above three categories must consist of a brief narrative expressing the reasoning for including the candidate’s nomination.
Projects of the Year (Upstate/Downstate): Awards will be presented to the developer/general contractor/architect recognizing excellence in one or more of the following categories: community need, capacity to catalyze economic development, creativity of financing, affordability, design, unique construction techniques and energy efficiency. Separate awards will be given to upstate and downstate projects. The project must have been completed and placed in service prior to Nov. 7, 2024. All project nominations must include nomination form, budget analysis, development narrative and photographs.
