The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) is in the process of implementing a solar program for master-metered affordable multifamily buildings through the Residential Renewable Energy Solutions (RRES) program. Currently, affordable multifamily participation in RRES is limited to properties that are individually metered. The Multifamily Housing Working Group, consisting of several state agencies, utilities, state housing advocacy groups and metering experts, submitted a comprehensive proposal for master-metered affordable multifamily housing projects’ participation in RRES. The proposal details a plan for how tenants would financially benefit from all eligible building upgrades, renter protection measures and auditing and enforcement measures. In response to the proposal, PURA issued a Request for Written Comments on the proposal. Comments must be filed by noon ET on May 6.
