The House will vote on six of the 12 Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 bills today. Congressional leaders are expecting a quick passage in the Senate followed by signature of President Biden before the funding deadline of March 8. Overall, the final spending bill provides HUD programs with $70 billion, $8.3 billion more than FY 2023-enacted levels. Congressional leaders are negotiating bigger policy items for the remaining six appropriations bills with a soft deadline of finalizing the bills by next week to release the text ahead of the March 22 deadline.
As FY 2024 appropriations close out, the FY 2025 appropriations process is already underway. Requests for Congressionally Directed Spending are due in mid-March. The President’s FY 2025 budget is expected to be released early next week after the State of the Union.
