New Jersey renters earning less than $150,000 may be eligible for relief under the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program.
To be eligible for this year’s benefit, renters must have occupied their primary residence on Oct. 1, 2019. They must also file (or be exempt from) New Jersey income taxes. The deadline for filing has been extended to Jan. 31, 2023.
Additionally, guidance issued in November 2022 clarified that income-eligible residents, who meet the tenure requirements, are eligible for the rebate, regardless of whether the property they reside in has received a PILOT or not.
