Pittsburgh-based Catalyst Communities has joined with Beacon Communities in a union that promises to deliver expanded capacity, improved services and deeper resources to existing and future residents and properties, Beacon said in a statement announcing the deal.

“The Catalyst Communities team is now a fully integrated office of Beacon Communities in Pittsburgh and will continue to enact a shared vision of regenerative development that prioritizes residents, communities, and sustained connections with regional institutions and specialized professionals who provide valued care and support to those we serve,” Beacon’s statement said. “As part of the Beacon team, they will continue to offer the high-quality service our clients and collaborators have come to expect and to realize our vision for development projects in communities across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and beyond.”

“We have a deep history with Beacon Communities that has demonstrated our mutual mission and goals for future regenerative developments,” said Michael Polite, now a partner and executive vice president at Beacon. “All current members of our leadership and staff will continue as part of our team for this new chapter of our organization, ensuring a seamless transition into our next phase of work,” Polite said.

“We look forward to our continued work with our talented colleagues in Pittsburgh,” said Dara Kovel, chief executive officer of Beacon Communities. “Having Michael Polite lead our team in Pittsburgh will build on our growth in the region and allow us to develop more critically-needed affordable housing in this part of our footprint.”
