FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON (Jan. 29, 2021) – National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA) today sent a letter to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs leadership supporting President Joe Biden’s nomination of Rep. Marcia Fudge to serve as secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“We are in the midst of an affordable housing crisis in America, made worse by the ongoing pandemic and its effect on the economy,” NH&RA President Thom Amdur said. “Rep. Fudge’s experience serving the community and the country as a mayor and member of Congress make her uniquely qualified to lead HUD and tackle this crisis head-on.”
In the letter, NH&RA cited Fudge’s track record of bipartisan accomplishments in Congress as well as her commitment to equity and racial justice, as experience that will help her succeed as HUD secretary.
“NH&RA supports Senate confirmation of Rep. Fudge, and we look forward to working with her, the HUD staff and the entire Biden administration to meet the ever-rising demand for affordable housing in the United States.”
