During the 2019 legislative session the state of Minnesota allocated $180.6 million towards building and preserving homes, increasing home stability and strengthening homeownership around the state.
The legislature approved appropriations of $120,596,000 for Minnesota Housing programs, including a $5 million one-time increase for the Economic Development and Housing Challenge program in FY 2020 (available during this year’s RFP) and increases in base funding for:
- Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP)
- Homework Starts with Home
- Bridges
- Manufactured Home Park Redevelopment Program
- Workforce Affordable Homeownership Program
Additionally, the Capital Investment bill authorizes Minnesota Housing to issue $60 million in Housing Infrastructure Bonds during this year’s RFP to:
- Preserve federally-assisted housing
- Build and preserve permanent supportive housing
- Purchase land for community land trusts
- Build and preserve affordable senior housing
- New use – Manufactured home community infrastructure and acquisition
