Top members of the United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship recently hosted a roundtable discussion on the 2009 expiring federal tax provisions that have been critical to small business growth and stability.  Committee Chair Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and ranking member Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) held the roundtable, “What is Working: Tax Incentives to Aid Small Business Recovery” just days after introducing legislation to make permanent enhanced expensing limits contained in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  Both Senators are also co-sponsors of the New Markets Tax Credit Extension Act, which would extend the New Market Tax Credit for five years and provide $5 billion in annual allocation authority.

NH&RA’s New Markets Tax Credit Steering Committee will convene later this week to discuss priorities for the coming year, and programming topics for our 2010 New Markets Tax Credit Symposium, scheduled for March 10 in Miami, Florida.  A preliminary agenda for the event is available here.  To submit programming ideas or to volunteer as a speaker, contact Thom Amdur, tamdur@housingonline.com.
