On September 14, the U.S. Senate confirmed Pamela Patenaude as Deputy Secretary of HUD. As Deputy Secretary, Patenaude will oversee day-to-day operations at the Department, including Disaster Management, an area where her leadership will be welcomed given the unusually destructive hurricane season thus far.

Patenaude’s confirmation hearing was June 6 and her confirmation was expected much sooner. The confirmation comes as a relief, as many industry organizations, including NH&RA, had joined in letters urging the Senate to expedite the confirmation process.

NH&RA congratulates Deputy Secretary Patenaude on her confirmation and looks forward to working with her in the future.

The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs will meet in open session to conduct a hearing on the following nominations: Mr. Kevin Allen Hassett, of Massachusetts, to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers; and The Honorable Pamela Hughes Patenaude, of New Hampshire, to be Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Patenaude is currently President of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for America’s Families, to serve as HUD’s Deputy Secretary.  Patenaude previously served as the Director of the Bipartisan Policy Centers Housing Commission. Patenaude is no stranger to HUD, having served as the White House Liaison under President Ronald Reagan and, more recently, as Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Urban Development during the George W. Bush presidency.

NH&RA congratulates Patenaude on her nomination and looks forward to working with her once she is confirmed.
