The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) will hold a meeting on February 20 in Washington, DC to provide an update on Preserve America Program Summit Implementation and on transition activities. National Housing & Rehabilitation Association Executive Director Peter Bell co-chaired a task force under this initiative that focused on using historic properties as economic assets. The task force urged federal government and key stakeholders to remove impediments in existing governmental incentive programs that discourage the use of federal historic tax credits. It also urged flexibility in the interpretation of the Interior Department Secretary’s Standards for Rehabilitation to encourage sustainable historic rehabilitation.
