Dominium, a Minneapolis-based leading apartment development and management company, announced today that construction has started at The Grainwood, a new affordable senior housing property in Prior Lake, Minn.
When completed, property will consist of 168 units. Dominium closed on the property on March 1, 2016. The construction will be formally kicked off at a groundbreaking event being held on April 18.
“The Grainwood will provide affordable housing options to the seniors of Prior Lake for years to come,” said Ron Mehl, Senior Developer for Dominium. “This project presented us with an opportunity to redevelop an underutilized site that will serve the community well. This new property will help fill future needs for senior housing in Minnesota.”
Dominium hopes to see a finished product by next summer. Plans include 9 foot ceilings, a full range of appliances, patios, balconies, and open floor plans. Select units will also have walk-in closets. The common amenities will include underground parking, a community room and kitchen, craft room, salon, fitness room, full time staff, outdoor plaza, theater area and fire places.
