Arbor Green, which was developed by Affirmed Housing, won a Sustainable Innovation Award from the U.S. Green Building Council. Arbor Green is a LEED Platinum Certified, virtually net zero community that features numerous innovative materials and allows the 40 affordable residences to enjoy utilities for approximately $5 or less a month.
Featuring 120Kw of photovoltaic solar system, the project also includes a solar water heating system, low flow fixtures, recycling chutes, car chargers for electric vehicles and dedicated parking for efficient vehicles. A renewable electricity generation system was designed and installed. Energy modeling was used to estimate both the energy supplied by the renewable energy system and the annual reference electrical load. A whole-house continuous ventilation system was designed and installed that complies with ASHRAE Standard 62.2 requirements.
