Massachusetts State Representative Kevin Honan introduced a bill to provide a special low-income housing tax credit allocation for housing that was developed under Section 13A. The state stopped funding Section 13A in 2009, threatening thousands of affordable housing units that were developed under the program in the 1970s. The bill would expand the state’s low-income housing tax credit program to provide $15 billion in additional tax credits between 2016 and 2020 to acquire and rehabilitate these housing developments.
