HUD has published a housing notice that extends the date for multifamily housing owners to be fully compliant with two major sections of the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) of 2016. Housing Notice H 2024-09 delays the date for full compliance for Sections 102 and 104 of HOTMA from Jan. 1, 2025, until July 1, 2025. Section 102 changes requirements related to income reviews for public housing and Section 8; Section 104 sets maximum asset limits for public housing and Section 8. HUD will release a series of FAQ documents addressing stakeholder questions concerning implementing HOTMA, as well as a series of forms that have been revised to reflect HOTMA requirements for review and comment.
