A grant from Virginia Housing helped bring a 3D printed single-family home in Richmond to life. Compared to traditional construction, 3D printing provides significant savings in time, labor and materials, as well as design flexibility.
This 3D printer is one of only two in the nation, and works like any other 3D printer, except it prints with concrete and is on a larger scale. A cement mixer nearby feeds into a printer head that is mounted on a steel frame and moves vertically and horizontally to print the home’s walls.
