HUD will resume Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) and National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) inspections starting June 1. HUD is prioritizing the inspection of high-risk properties (previous low inspection scores and/or have not had an inspection for a long period of time). Residents will have the ability to opt-out should they not wish to have an inspector enter their unit. Properties participating in the NSPIRE demonstration will receive advisory scores under the new inspection criteria. HUD also extended the previous 14-day notice to 28 days.
