Following long tenures at two of the housing industry’s leading accounting and syndication companies, Bob Moss and David Gasson announced they are forming MG Housing Strategies (MGHS). In an announcement, the pair said they will bring their combined experience of 35 years in public policy and affordable housing to work in Washington, DC. MGHS will work on behalf of clients seeking regulatory changes and expanding resources through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, housing programs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and at the Department of Agriculture.
“After spending years working with David to advance housing issues, providence has provided us the opportunity to focus full-time on critical matters of importance to our clients and the affordable housing industry,” said Moss. Moss has 34 years of experience in the industry, most recently leading CohnReznick’s federal and state government relations. He recently served as the chairman of the National Leased Housing Association and is active with the Council of Independent State Housing Associations (CISHA), the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition, and the ACTION Legislative Steering committee. He is the chairman of the non-partisan Housing Advisory Group, which is active in preserving the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC).
“The COVID-19 pandemic has made an already dire housing crisis even worse,” stated Gasson. “I am excited to work with Bob and our clients to remedy obstacles to housing production and find ways to expand housing opportunities.”
After working in Washington, DC for almost 10 years in a variety of capacities for Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-MO) and Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell (D-ME), Gasson joined Boston Capital in 1995 as vice president and director. Gasson is the executive director of the Housing Advisory Group, a role he has held since 1995. The Housing Advisory Group educates state and federal officials on housing programs and formulates policies leading to the expansion of affordable housing production. He is an original member of the ACTION Campaign, where he sits on the steering committee. He is a member of the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition and the National Leased Housing Association. He also advises the Council of Independent State Housing Associations on policy and national advocacy.
