Florida Housing strongly urges property owners and managers of properties funded by Florida Housing to suspend rent increases during the COVID-19 pandemic. HUD unveiled 2020 rent and income limits in March, and they are posted on Florida Housing’s website. However, rent limits published by HUD are simply limits – amounts above, which an owner cannot go, rather than a required amount that must be charged. The posting of rent limits that are higher than those previously in place does not result in increased rental rates, it only makes possible an increase.

April 2, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-94, providing targeted, temporary relief from certain mortgage foreclosures and evictions for 45 days, without relieving an individual’s obligation to make mortgage payments and rent payments.
