HUD recently released its Understanding Whom the LIHTC Serves: Data on Tenants in LIHTC Units as of December 31, 2017 report, which summarizes data received from the state housing finance agencies (HFAs) that administer LIHTC.

Heads of Household:

  • 8 percent White Alone;
  • 8 percent Black or African-American Alone;
  • 0 percent Asian Alone;
  • 9 percent American Indian and Alaska Native Alone;
  • 2 percent Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander Alone;
  • 7 percent Other (Including Multiple Races);
  • 7 percent Hispanic (Any Race); and
  • 9 percent Race or Ethnicity Not Reported.

Children and Elderly Members:

  • 6 percent at least one member under 18 years old and
  • 0 percent at least one member equal to or greater than 62 years old.

Median Income:

  • $17,943.

Households Receiving Monthly Rental Assistance:

  • 3 percent receiving no monthly rental assistance;
  • 9 percent receiving greater than $0 in monthly rental assistance; and
  • 8 percent not reported.
