Minnesota Housing and our funding partners are pleased to announce an investment of more than $87.5 million for developments that will create and preserve more than 1,700 affordable homes across Minnesota.

This year’s selected projects include workforce housing in Greater Minnesota, suburban new construction, single family homeownership opportunities and proven models for supportive housing. At a press conference today at Jeremiah Program in St. Paul, Minnesota Housing Commissioner Mary Tingerthal and community leaders shared the news of this much needed investment in affordable homes.

“We know that the smartest investment we can make in our state’s future is securing a foundation of strong communities and stable homes for all Minnesotans,” said Commissioner Tingerthal. “Since the beginning of the Dayton administration, we have touched every corner of our state by investing $1.7 billion in more than 35,000 units of affordable housing. I’m proud of our work and the difference it has made for children, families, businesses and communities across Minnesota.”

Each of the projects announced today was selected through a single common application process with funding from Minnesota Housing, Greater Minnesota Housing Fund and the Metropolitan Council. Funding for 55 developments will support more than 3,600 jobs and leverage additional private and local resources for more than $364 million in total development costs.

“Too many families across Minnesota struggle to afford quality housing, forcing them to cut back on other essential needs like food, medicine, and education,” said Governor Mark Dayton. “This critical investment in affordable housing across our state will strengthen our local communities and Minnesota families.”
