On October 10th, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a proposed rule that would make it more likely for certain immigrants to be denied admission to the U.S. or denied green cards because they receive or would receive lifeline benefits, including Public Housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, and Project-Based Section 8 housing subsidies. The National Housing Law Project (NHLP) will host a webinar on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Eastern that will:
- Review the basics of existing public charge law and policy;
- Discuss how the proposed rule would drastically change immigration policy;
- Cover how the rule could impact immigrants and their families accessing and receiving federal housing assistance and other benefits;
- Discuss how you can fight back by submitting comments to DHS; and
- Share resources on how we can support you.
