NH&RA congratulates the US Department of Housing & Urban Development and on achieving an important milestone — the conversion and preservation of 100,000 public housing units through the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Program! HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Assistant Secretary for Housing Brian Montgomery, and Multifamily Office of Recapitalization Director Tom Davis were joined by the Housing Authority of the City of Austin and additional officials in Austin, Texas, to celebrate this momentous occasion. You can read about the event here. Without RAD, it would take public housing authorities 46 years to chip away at the $35 billion deferred maintenance backlog, and we’ve made major headway in just six years. Thank you to all the public housing authorities and partners who have worked with us to preserve these units. Read more about this milestone in our graphic flyer here that shows both the growth of RAD across the USA and into the future.
NH&RA has convened its RAD Working Group since the inception of the program to provide a peer network of developers, owners, PHAs and financing professionals involved in RAD. Get the latest RAD program updates at NH&RA’s Fall Developers Forum on Oct. 22-23 in Boston.
