WASHINGTON (February 26, 2018) – David Abromowitz, Of Counsel at Goulston & Storrs P.C., in Boston Mass., was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association at NH&RA’s 2018 Annual Meeting last week in Palm Beach, Calif. NH&RA is the leading professional association of companies and individuals who are involved in affordable housing, historic rehabilitation and New Markets Tax Credit development.
“David has been an invaluable member of NH&RA for many years and we are looking forward to working with him in this new capacity,” said Thom Amdur, Executive Director of NH&RA. “David is a trusted advisor to many across the affordable housing community and brings a unique blend of transactional experience and public policy acumen that will serve NH&RA and the industry-at-large well in this time of political and economic volatility.”
Abromowitz has served in various officer positions on the board, co-founded NH&RA’s Council for Energy Efficient Affordable Housing and served on the Advisory Board of the NH&RA Preservation Through Energy Efficiency Initiative, which was funded through a grant from the MacArthur Foundation. He is also a frequent speaker at industry conferences and was honored with NH&RA’s Affordable Housing Vision Award in 2014. Abromowitz succeeds John Weld Peck, Of Counsel at Coats Rose in Cincinnati, Ohio, who served as Chair from Feb. 2017 to March 2018.
“NH&RA remains the premier national affordable housing organization bringing together every sector that builds, finances, manages and maintains America’s housing for low- and moderate-income families and seniors,” said Abromowitz. “I am proud to head up a talented slate of industry leaders at a time when we need long term vision to address the housing needs of millions who are working hard but still struggling to pay the rent.”
NH&RA also welcomes the following newly elected officers to the 2018-2019 Executive Committee: Vice-Chairs Robert Fein, Chief Operating Officer, Redstone Equity Partners, and Holly Wiedeman, President, AU Associates; Board Treasurer Geoff Brown, President, USA Properties Fund; and Board Secretary Joan Hoover, Executive Vice President for Development & Finance, Conifer Realty LLC.
A nominating committee comprised of NH&RA Executive Officers and Past Chairs nominated these members, and NH&RA’s Executive Committee approved the nominations on Feb. 22 during a meeting of the Board of Directors.
