This week, LISC President and CEO Maurice Jones announced the organization’s commitment to closing the life expectancy gap found when comparing different zip codes across the United States, building off of research that the zip code someone lives in is the greatest determining factor of life expectancy. LISC will deploy $10 billion over the next ten years in underinvested urban and rural communities. “Better health won’t be just a collateral benefit of our community transformation work. It will be a priority.” Writes Jones.
Towards this goal, LISC plans to partner with enterprises in the healthcare industry as well as recruit talent with health expertise to LISC’s staff and Board.
LISC also plans to track progress via existing and new metrics and will share this data with industry peers. Read the full story here.
