The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) is accepting entries for the 23rd Annual Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards (the Edson Awards). Presented to the most outstanding Low Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) properties in seven categories, the Edson Awards bring together Members of Congress and industry participants to celebrate developments at the forefront of creating strong, healthier communities in urban, suburban, and rural areas nationwide.
“The Edson Awards recognize the Housing Credit’s ability to strengthen lives, communities, and the economy,” said Anthony J. Alfieri, president of AHTCC. “Award recipients exemplify how vital the Housing Credit is as the primary source of financing for affordable rental housing in every city, county, and state, and remind us why it must be protected and strengthened throughout tax reform to meet America’s growing demand for affordable rental housing.”
The Housing Credit is America’s primary tool for creating and preserving nearly all affordable rental housing nationwide, financing three million homes for veterans, seniors, working families, people with special needs, and other residents since it was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan. Each award recipient will be recognized at the Edson Awards ceremony in June in Washington, DC, featuring members of Congress. Entry categories include:
- Developments located in a metropolitan area (minimum population of 50,000 or Standard Metropolitan Area);
- Developments located in a rural area (maximum population of 50,000);
- Veterans/Special Needs Housing ― without regard to development location;
- Senior Housing ― without regard to development location;
- Green Housing ― without regard to development location;
