On December 30, HUD launched the CNA e-Tool, which effects all owners, lenders, and third-party due diligence providers participating in multifamily programs.

The tool automates and standardizes the capital needs assessment process, as well as provides a method for documenting savings from energy conservation and sustainable housing objectives – these savings can be used by appraisers and underwriters.

Instructional guides and resources are available and beginning January 15, the e-tool will be available for voluntary use. Training and assistance will be provided during the 6-month phase-in period leading up to July 1, 2017, when use of the CNA e-Tool will become mandatory.

The policy is live on HUDClips and on the Multifamily homepage under “What’s New.”  Questions should be directed to David Wilderman.
