In April 2015, a half-completed senior housing development in Baltimore, MD, was destroyed by a tragic fire. The project’s developer, The Woda Group, vowed to rebuild the property, which is now slated to open in spring 2016.
The Mary Harvin Center will provide 61 units of affordable senior housing and services, counseling, and job training space on a once-blighted block. Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits honored the project with a 2016 Developments of Distinction Award, recognizing it as the “LIHTC Development that Best Reflects Market Success in Overcoming Significant Obstacles.”
“We appreciate the recognition of Woda’s leadership and of all the partners, public and private, to persevere in the face of adversity, and to honor our ongoing commitment to providing safe and affordable housing for the residents of the City of Baltimore,” Bell said.
