Trinity Financial celebrated the completion of 113 new units of affordable housing in Brockton, MA. The housing is the first completed phase of a larger project that’s bringing commercial, retail, green, and artist exhibition space, a parking garage, and a restored park honoring Korean War and Vietnam War veterans to the city. It is being built under Chapter 40R, also known as the Smart Growth Zoning Overlay District Act, which encourages the development of affordable housing units near transit stations.
MassHousing provided $1.75 million from the state’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund to help finance the 113 units of housing. Seventy-one of the units are affordable to lower-income residents and the remaining 29 will be rented at market rates.
