A property that was under development in Baltimore by the Woda Group was destroyed in a massive fire. The development, which was 45% complete, plans to replace a blighted block with 61 units of affordable senior housing and service, counseling, and job training space.
After years of planning and predevelopment work, The Woda Group, Inc. and the Southern Baptist Church broke ground for the Mary Harvin Center on North Chester Street in East Baltimore in October of 2014. The fire destroyed all of the framing as well as most of the elevator shafts and concrete slabs.
The Woda Group and Southern Baptist Church intend to complete the Mary Harvin Center and open it for occupancy by 2016.
The Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development, the City of Baltimore and its Department of Housing have all been involved with the Mary Harvin Center.
