Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) announced an update to the FY 2015 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for its Special Needs Housing Grant (SNHG) Program. Under this NOFA, AHFC will make grants, 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and potentially zero interest loans available for competitive allocation to successful applicants to acquire, rehabilitate, or construct rental housing. For eligibility to apply for SNHG Program funds, all applicants are required to submit Applications to AHFC through an online application system.
Since the original NOFA was issued, AHFC has been approached by the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) to include additional HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the NOFA for projects located within the MOA. This partnership is still in discussion and a firm agreement has not been executed. If the additional HOME and CDBG resources are added to the existing NOFA, they may collectively exceed $1.5M.
In response, AHFC is extending the FY 2015 SNHG application deadline until March 31st at 4:30 p.m. (Alaska time) and is re-opening the registration process for proposals located in the MOA to participate in the FY 2015 SNHG competition from January 29, 2015 through February 12, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. (Anchorage time).
