HUD’s Office of Policy Development & Research recently released its Quarterly Housing Market and Research Update, which includes a webcast panel discussion entitled, “Fair Housing Implications of LIHTC Property Placement.” The Panel Discussion centers on the extent to which certain provisions of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program may have led to the placement of affordable housing units in predominately low-income neighborhoods, a potential divergence from established Fair Housing policy.

Panelists include:

  • Michael Hollar, Senior Economist, Economic Development & Public Finance Division
  • Casey Dawkins, Associate Professor, University of Maryland
  • Myron Orfield, Executive Director, Institute on Race & Poverty, University of Minnesota
  • Mark Shelburne, Counsel and Policy Coordinator, North Carolina Housing Finance Agency
