Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), along with a bi-partisan group of U.S. Senators, introduced the American Energy and Job Promotion Act (S. 2201) which would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend the wind energy production tax credit (PTC) for two years. The bill would also extend the tax credit for biomass, geothermal, landfill gas, trash, hydropower, and marine and hydrokinetic energy production. The PTC is currently set to expire at the end of 2012. The bill is cosponsored by Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), Senator Scott Brown (R-MA), Senator Thomas Harkin, (D-IA), Senator Dean Heller (R-NV), Senator Mark Udall (D-CO), and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) has been referred the Senate Finance Committee.
