The Housing Assistance Council (HAC) has published “Rurality in the United States,” the first in its new series of Rural Research Notes, highlighting economic and housing characteristics of rural America. “Rurality in the United States” provides national and state-by-state statistics of the rural population, and discusses commonly used approaches for identifying rural areas. The Rural Research Notes series will also preview HAC’s Taking Stock report, a decennial assessment of the state of rural housing in America.
