The National Park Service has named Brian D. Goeken as Chief of the Technical Preservation Services office. He will manage the federal historic tax credit program. Goeken previously served as Deputy Commissioner of the City of Chicago’s Department of Zoning and Land Use Planning and oversees the city’s Historic Preservation Division. Goegan will report to Stephanie Toothman, National Park Service Associate Director for Cultural Resources. Goeken begins his new duties on June 20. The position has been filled on an interim rotating basis by NPS staff since Sharon Park, the former Chief of the Technical Preservation Services, left in April of 2007 to become Chief, Architectural History and Historic Preservation, at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.
