Housing Assistance Council (HAC) Executive Director Moises Loza has submitted written testimony in response to the Obama Administration’s proposed FY-2012 budget with regard to the nation’s rural housing programs. According to Loza, the “proposed 2012 budget for rural housing would not meet the needs of poor or elderly rural residents, create jobs, or support rural economies.” Among other things, the testimony criticizes the proposed elimination of the Multifamily Preservation and Revitalization (MPR) program and the Preservation Revolving Loan Fund, “both of which finance much-needed renovations and repairs for aging rental properties with USDA loans, thus preserving the government’s existing investment in those buildings.” Read More…
