Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Claudia Cappio as Executive Director of the California HFA. Ms. Cappio comes to the Agency with a background in land use planning, project development and administration, including affordable housing.
Over the past 30 years she has served as Development Director, City Planner and Major Projects and Building Manager for several local governments in the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area. Steven Spears will be staying on as the Agency’s Chief Deputy Director. Mr. Spears has over 20 years of experience in public and housing finance and government fiscal management. He most recently served as CalHFA’s Director and has been with the Agency since 2006, serving as Chief Deputy Director from January 2006 to December 2008.
