The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a full-year continuing resolution last week to fund the federal government through the remainder of FY 2011, which ends September 30, 2011. The measure would generally funds federal departments and agencies at their FY 2010 funding levels, but increase funding for the federal Housing Choice )Section 8) Voucher Program, Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance program, and homeless assistance grants. The Senate may instead attempt to pass a separate “omnibus” funding bill that would include modified versions of the 12 regular appropriations bills that have been previously approved by the House and/or Senate appropriations committees. If an omnibus bill stalls, the Senate could consider the House-passed continuing resolution. Should Congress fail to pass either the House resolution or a Senate omnibus bill, it could approve another short-term continuing resolution to fund the federal government at FY 2010 levels into early 2011.
