The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has designated Difficult Development Areas (DDAs) for 2011 for purposes of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. The announcement designates DDAs for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In accordance with the LIHTC program, projects located in DDAs or Qualified Census Tracts (QCTs) are eligible for up to 30% more LIHTC subsidy than projects not located in DDAs or QCTs. The notice states that QCTs published in October 2009 remain in effect. The notice also does not designate GO Zone DDAs, which are set to expire December 31, 2010.
