Last week, Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tim Johnson (D-SD) introduced new legislation, the Securing America’s Future with Energy and Sustainable Technologies (SAFEST) Act. The bill would provide significant incentives for sustainable energy efficiencies, including a renewable electricity standard (RES) and an extension of tax credits.
The bill would establish a RES of 25% by 2025, extend the eligibility period of existing tax credits for new projects by two years, and create a new tax credit to offset the cost of integrating wind and solar energy into existing transmission systems. Read more…
