A recent report from the U.S. Treasury Department shows that nearly 28,000 jobs have been created as a result of the Section 1602 low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) cash grant exchange program, created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Under the Exchange program, state housing credit agencies must report quarterly to Treasury on the number of jobs created or retained by projects funded by the program, and the number of newly constructed or rehabilitated units funded.
