U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan yesterday announced that HUD has approved requests from 26 states for over $1 billion in funding through the Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP), provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The awards will be used to assist stalled affordable housing developments, while creating jobs and stimulating local economies. The first wave of funding will be made to the following state housing authorities:

- Iowa
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Mississippi
- Nebraska
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New York
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Ohio

- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- Tennessee
- Vermont
- Washington
- Wisconsin
