The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently announced $1.5 in available funding through the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, provided under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The funds will be used to quickly re-house and stabilize the homeless, as well as provide needed services to families that might otherwise become homeless. HUD’s notice includes a program description, application process, eligible activities, requirements for funding, awards system and other information. It states that funds must be used to administer the following categories of eligible activities:
- financial assistance;
- housing relocation and stabilization services;
- data collection and evaluation; and
- administrative costs.
